This course is also a prerequisite for the Advanced Practitioner level and Train the Trainer course.
In PB West’s new revised training, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the framework underpinning the Protective Behaviours Process, a stronger connection to the themes, concepts and strategies of Protective Behaviours, and its application with all forms of safety.
Our Universals training is endorsed by PBI, Di Margetts and Donna Fortin codeveloper of the Protective Behaviours Program along with Peg West.
Our trainers are registered with the Protective Behaviours Association
Upon successful completion of this training participants can apply to the Protective Behaviours Association based in the UK, for Associate membership
Protective Behaviours Universals Plus

In Person or Online. This is an interactive training curriculum conducted in groups with reflective discussion, tools and activities over 2 full days (16 hours total learning time).

Protective Behaviours Advanced Practitioner –
Certification
Course information
This immersive four-day course supports practitioners who have completed Universals Plus and are ready to deepen understanding of the Protective Behaviours framework and its practical application. Participants will explore each element of the Protective Behaviours Process in depth, developing confidence critical thinking and practice the skills required to apply the framework in practice.
Trainers of this course were mentored and accredited by International Protective Behaviours elder, creator of the social and emotional context of Protective Behaviours and course developer, Di Margetts. Di described the course as “Four days of immersing ourselves in the Protective Behaviours Process”.
Certification in Advanced Practitioners is a prerequisite for those seeking to be a Protective Behaviours Trainer. As Di Margetts said, “We clearly cannot become a trainer without having a deep understanding of all elements of the process”.
Protective Behaviours Advanced Practitioner – Certification

Prerequisite:
Successful completion of the Universals Plus Practitioner Course and provision of the certification.
How:
In Person or Online. This is an interactive training curriculum conducted in groups with reflective discussion, tools and activities over 4 full days. It is structured in two parts; 2 initial full days followed by a course break to apply and reflect followed by a final 2 day workshop.

Child Protection Fundamentals

Child Protection Fundamentals provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed for all professionals working with children to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and duty of care obligations. The course is designed to equip participations with skills to understand child abuse, recognise and respond to signs of abuse and harm, understand reporting responsibilities and respond appropriately when concerns arise.

Child Protection – Safeguarding For The Whole Team

Safeguarding for the Whole Team supports organisations to build a consistent model of child safety by embedding both prevention and response into everyday practice consistently modelled by all staff as an operating model. It is aimed at reducing risk and improving outcomes. Through a shared understanding of safeguarding; Teams develop the knowledge, confidence and practical strategies needed to create safer environments, recognise concerns early and respond appropriately when safety issues arise.
Professional Learning Series
Early care professionals benefit from guidance on how to promote secure attachment relationships with the children in their care.
The Circle of Security Classroom(COSC) Approach is designed to enhance teachers’ abilities to form secure relationships, and offers critical organizing principles from attachment theory to improve teacher confidence and competence in relationship building.
This, in turn, fosters strong secure teacher-student relationships, and ultimately, student learning. COSC Approach is a two-tier approach to support secure relationships in the classroom by first equipping teachers with professional learning opportunities and, then, the application in the classroom through supportive coaching.
COSP (Circle of Security) Classroom Professional Learning Series
Who:
All Early Childhood Professionals with a COSP Classroom Facilitator.
How:
In Person Only. This is an interactive training curriculum conducted with both presentation and interactive learning elements and reflective discussion in 90-Minute sessions over 9-12 weeks. Should a Classroom Facilitator not be applicable for you and your organisation, refresher sessions must be organised.
Where:
On-Site at your premises. The premises must be outside the classroom, in a safe space for all participants to contribute and video presentation capability is required.
